MOOD RING (temor teflon) is a new performance created by Ivan Cheng for the Casa del Lago Terrace. Over the last decade, his highly collaborative work has been centred around the question of what an audience constitutes and is able to produce. Working also with camera operators in performance, he moves between tightly scripted monologues and requests for audience participation to complete the work.

Within this work, Cheng declares the mood ring and the non-stick as ideas to think alongside the performing body. They propose a direct connection - a colour to reflect your internal mood, which you might not otherwise be aware of; a cooking surface that will not stick to your food as it sizzles. What happens when it gets scarred or disrupted? MOOD RING (temor teflon) proposes to start where devices stop functioning as they were designed.
